Three Reasons to See a Dietitian in 2023
The old saying, "New Year, New You" seems to have people wanting to improve or change things about themselves as soon as the clock strikes midnight on December 31st each year. You see a surge of people in gyms, trying out diets, and trying to curb old habits. Why not try seeing a Dietitian in 2023? Dietitians can help you navigate the ever-changing evidence base of nutrition. They can help you make the best choice of foods to take care of your health as you age. This article reviews my top three reasons to see a Dietitian in 2023.
1. You want to speak with someone, judgement free, about your food and eating struggles.
Dietitians are trained on a wide array of counselling techniques and stay up-to-date on the most effective therapies to assist those with food and eating struggles. Dietitians are also trained in motivational interviewing, active listening, and different behavioural change theories to help you make positive, long-lasting changes to your health.

2. You want help managing your health condition or concern.
Maybe you receive a diagnosis from your physician and are told to change your eating habits. You are unsure where to start and everything online seems to be confusing. A dietitian can certainly work with you to figure out which foods and beverages can help your condition or make it worse. Furthermore, a dietitian can work with you to set goals and make lifestyle changes to improve your health and your health condition.
3. You want to know the most up-to-date information on nutrition and your health.
With all of the information available online these days, it is hard to know what is true, what can be applied to you, and what will help you in your current stage of life. Dietitians are the nutrition experts and can provide you with evidence-based recommendations tailored to your individual needs.
